Antipsychiatrie
Die Antipsychiatrie ist eine Bewegung, die 1960 durch R. Laing und D. Cooper begründet wurde und die Krankheitsauffassung der Psychiatrie, insbesondere das (biologische) Konzept der Schizophrenie, auf der Basis gesellschaftskritischer Argumente ablehnt. In der radikalsten Form sagt die Antipsychiatrie, dass das, was „Schizophrenie“ genannt werde im Grunde lediglich die Auswirkung eines falschen familiären und gesellschaftlichen Umgangs mit den Bedürfnissen eines Individuums sei, bei dem es um Kontrolle und Unterwerfung gehe. Die Betroffenen benötigen nach ansicht der Antipsychiatrie deshalb nicht Psychiatrie oder psychiatrische Behandlung, sondern vor allem Raum und Begleitung, um ihren Wahn zu durchleben. Thomas Szasz, ein radikaler Antipychiater bezeichnete die Stellung psychiatrischer Diagnosen sowie die Behandlung psychisch Kranker, insbesondere in stationären Einrichtungen als Verbrechen gegen die Menschlichkeit.
Philosophischer Hintergrund der Antipsychiatrie sind die definitiven Schwächen der deskriptiven Psychopathologie und der psychiatrischen Diagnosen, die insgesamt viel weniger objektivierbar sind, als die meisten somatischen Diagnosen und deshalb vom Diagnostiker besonders leicht als blosse „Zuschreibungen“ missbraucht werden können.
Die radikale Form der Antipsychiatrie lässt sich auf dem Boden heutiger Erkenntnisse kaum aufrecht erhalten. In der gemässigten Variante hat sie eine grosse Bedeutung für die Sensibilisierung der Gesellschaft und der offiziellen Psychiatrie für spezifische diagnostische und therapeutische Probleme des Fachbereichs sowie die oft unerträgliche Stigmatisierung und Ausgrenzung psychisch Kranker.
