Die beiden letzteren Modelle basieren auf den Arbeiten Learys und stellen lediglich Ausarbeitungen dar.

Die Kreismodelle von Leary (1957) und Kiesler (1983; 1986)

Bei dem von Leary (1957) entworfenen „Interpersonal Circle“ werden Persönlichkeitseigenarten, die nach ihrer Funktion in der zwischenmenschlichen Begegnung benannt werden, auf einer Ebene kreisförmig angeordnet, wobei die Ebene zwei senkrecht aufeinander stehende Achsen (Dimensionen) umgibt. Es handelt sich also um ein Kreismodell der Persönlichkeit. Auf der vertikalen Achse sind die Persönlichkeitseigenschaften zwischen den Extremen Polen Dominanz versus Unterwürfigkeit dimensionierbar, auf der horizontalen Achse zwischen den Polen Haß und Liebe. Der Schweregrad, d.h. die Entscheidung, ob eine P.-eigenschaft zu einer -störung avanciert, läßt sich durch die Position zwischen Achsenmittelpunkt und Außenkreis dimensionieren.

Acht Persönlichkeitstypen können so beschrieben werden:

  • die rebellisch-mißtrauische Persönlichkeit
  • die sich zurückstellende und masochistische Persönlichkeit
  • die gefügig-abhängige Persönlichkeit
  • die kooperativ-förmliche Persönlichkeit
  • die verantwortlich-hypernormale Persönlichkeit
  • die führend-selbstherrliche Persönlichkeit
  • die konkurrierend-narzißtische Persönlichkit
  • die aggressiv-sadistische Persönlichkeit

Benachbarte Kategorien korrelieren in empirischen Untersuchungen hoch positiv, während gegenüberliegende Kategorien hoch negativ korrelieren.

Empirische faktorenanalytische (Nach-) Untersuchungen konnten inzwischen auch bestätigen, daß die Beschränkung auf die zwei Grunddimensionen „Status“ (Dominanz vs. Unterwürfigkeit) und „Zuneigung“ (Liebe vs. Haß) sinnvoll sind.

Kieslers Interpersoneller Zirkel (IPC) (1983; 1986) gründet sich in einer Synthese von Sullivans „interpersoneller Theorie“ und Learys Kreismodell nach Fiedler auf folgende theoretische Annahmen:

„Nach Kieslers Auffassung beruht die Entwicklung von Persönlichkeitseinseitigkeiten und Persönlichkeitsstörungen im wesentlichen auf einem Wechselspiel der intrapsychischen und interpersonellen Dynamik, welches Menschen dazu führt, maladaptive Beziehungen zu wiederholen, um damit eine psychologische Bindung auf dem Niveau erreichter Kompetenz aufrechtzuerhalten. Obwohl diese maladaptiven Beziehungsmuster häufig schmerzhaft erlebt werden, bleiben sie bestehen, weil Alternativen nicht oder nur unzureichnd gelernt wurden und damit prinzipiell eine Bedrohung des Selbst (-bildes/-konzeptes) darstellen.“ (Fiedler, 1994, S. 102).

Kieslers Kreismodell (s.a. Abb. 16 im Anhang) übernimmt die beiden Achsen des Modells von Leary, geht aber gleichzeitig darüber hinaus, indem es ein weiteres Postulat berücksichtigt, welches besagt

„daß zwei miteinander interagierende Personen ihr Verhalten gegenseitig beeinflussen. Dieses Prinzip trägt dazu bei, daß die im Circumplex einzuordnenden Handlungen spezifische Reaktionen bei anderen Personen herausfordern oder hervorrufen. Gewöhnlich besteht eine Komplementarität.. Damit ist gemeint, daß sich die Handlungsmuster ähnlich sind im Hinblick auf die Zuneigungsdimension (freundlich – feindselig) und reziprok im Hinblick auf die Kontrolldimension (dominant – unterwürfig) des interpersonellen Zirkels. Konkret in das Modell übertragen: dominant-feindseliges Verhalten (z.B. „konkurrierend, verachtend-rivalisierend“) führt zu submissiv-feindseligen Reaktionen („unsicher, demütig-hilflos“); und dominant-freundliches Verhalten (z.B. „gesellig“) führt zu eher submisiv-freundlichen Reaktionen (also „warmherzig akzeptierend“). Komplementarität scheint die zwischenmenschlichen Bedürfnisse der Interaktionsteilnehmer am ehesten zu befriedigen; andererseits besteht das Problem zur Aufrechterhaltung unflexibler Komplementaritätsverschränkungen, die in einen letztlich hilflos machenden circulus vitiosus entgleiten können.“ (Fiedler, 1994, S. 104)

Das „Inventar zur Erfassung interpersoneller Probleme (IIP-C/-D“) von Horowitz (1994)

Horowitz (z.B. Horowitz et al., 1988; in deutscher Übersetzung, 1994) entwickelte in über 10jähriger Arbeit eines der inzwischen am besten akzeptierten und dadurch brauchbaren Selbstbeurteilungsverfahren zur Diagnostik und Bewertung interaktioneller Schwierigkeiten und Persönlichkeitseigenschaften, das sogenannte Inventar zur Erfassung interpersoneller Probleme (IIP-C/-D) (s.a. Abb. im Anhang).
Dieses Fragebogen-Inventar erlaubt es (nach Fiedler, 1994),

„spezifische Beziehungsmuster wie deren Problemaspekte zu identifizieren, einzugrenzen und – da es recht sensitiv auf persönliche Änderungen anspricht – deren Verlaufseigenarten zu überprüfen, weshalb sich dieser Fragebogen auch als ausgesprochen brauchbar für eine Therapieverlaufskontrolle erwiesen hat (vgl. Grawe & Braun, 1994).“ (Fiedler, 1994, S. 104)

Entsprechende Untersuchungen ergaben, daß sich die interaktionellen Eigenschaften der Patienten zwei zentralen Faktoren zuordnen lassen, die wiederum den Hauptdimensionen
der anderen Kreismodelle entsprechen.

Die „Structural Analysis of Social Behavior“ nach Benjamin (1974)

Kreismodelle sind derzeit sehr beliebt, um Persönlichkeitseigenschaften und Interaktionsverhalten zu dimensionieren. Es sind daher inzwischen Bemühungen im Gange, die prototypischen Interaktionseigenarten der DSM-III (-R)-Persönlichkeitsstörungen in die Kreismodelle einzufügen.
Dies gelingt nur für einige Störungen bislang befriedigend, nämlich für diejenigen, deren Verhaltensäußerungen ein einheitliches Profil ergeben, z.B. für

  • die schizoide,
  • die passiv-aggressive oder
  • die paranoide Persönlichkeit.

Größere Schwierigkeiten gib es bei komplexeren Störungsprofilen, die aus mehreren Dimensionen zusammengesetzt erscheinen, z.B.

  • die schizotypische Persönlichkeit (sozial-vermeidend und aufdringlich)oder
  • die dissoziale Persönlicheit (kalt-abweisend, zu streitsüchtig und aufdringlich-expressiv).

Völlig ausgeklammert bleiben in den zweidimensionalen Anordnungen aber grundsätzlich alle die wichtigen, für die korrekte Diagnosestellung unabdingbaren, intrapsychischen Aspekte oder Prozesse, wie z.B. (vgl. Fiedler, 1994, S. 106)

  • Interessen,
  • Selbstkonzept
  • Identität,
  • Sichtweise anderer Personen.

Die Strukturanalyse sozialer Beziehungen (SASB) von Benjamin (1974):
Für Benjamin hängt die Regulation zwischenmenschlicher Beziehungen nicht nur von den jeweiligen Positionen in den beiden Dimensionen „Status“ bzw. „Zuneigung“ ab, sondern

  • zum einen wesentlich auch davon, ob sich der Aufmerksamkeitsfokus (z.B. auf der Achse Kontrolle vs. Unterwerfung) dabei mehr auf sich selbst oder auf andere bezieht und zu welchen Anteilen dies geschieht und
  • zum anderen auch von der Art der innerpsychischen Selbstregulation und Homöostase.

Unter Beibehaltung der beiden schon beschriebenen Achsen und der jeweiligen Anordnung der Persönlichkeitseigenschaften im Kreismodell, können für die Gesamtdarstellung eines Patienten jeweils drei Kreismodelle zur Abbildung kommen, welche die genannten drei Foci repräsentieren.
Fokus 1 beschreibt transitive Interaktionsformen, d.h. solche interpersonellen Modi, bei der die Interaktion des Betroffenen auf den Partner ausgerichtet ist, also diesen zum Aufmerksamkeitsfokus wählt.
Fokus 2 beschreibt intransitive Interaktionsformen, d.h. solche interpersonellen Modi, bei der die Interaktion des Betroffenen auf sich selber ausgerichtet ist, also sich selber zum Aufmerksamkeitsfokus wählt.
Fokus 3 beschreibt zeit- und situationsstabile innere Grundhaltungen des Betroffenen sich selbst gegenüber. Der Aufmerksamkeitsfokus liegt hier auf den Introjekten, welche wiederum die Beziehung des Betroffenen zu sich selbst normativ regulieren.

Laut Fiedler(1994) lassen sich mit Hilfe der „SASB-Beurteilung…nicht mehr nur die recht eindeutigen persönlichkeitsbedingten Interaktionsauffäligkeiten beurteilen und einordnen, sondern selbst höchst komplexe und fluktuierende Beziehungsmuster werden einer genauen Erfassung und Rekonstruktion zugänglich.“ (S. 108)

Recht anschaulich lassen sich im Modell z.B. persontypische Strukturmerkmale oder interpersonelle Strukturmerkmale abbilden.
Beispiele für persontypische Strukturmerkmale sind z.B. die Begriffe „Doppelbindung“ (double bind), „Ambivalenz“ und „Konflikt“. Die SASB-Beurteilung kann diese in ihren unterschiedlichen Bedeutungen zur Darstellung bringen, und es wird auch deutlich, warum es Interaktionspartnern so schwer fällt, dazu komplementäre Beziehungen einzugehen:
Doppelbindung:

  • Es werden zeitgleich zwei im Kreis gegenüberliegende (= gegensätzliche) Interaktionsmodi getätigt.
  • Es handelt es sich um ein interpersonelles Geschehen.
  • Der Aufmerksamkeitsfokus liegt auf dem Interaktionspartner.
    –> Entsprechend bildet sich die „Doppelbindung“ im Fokus 1 ab.

Ambivalenz:

  • Es werden zeitgleich zwei im Kreis gegenüberliegende (= gegensätzliche) Interaktionsmodi getätigt
  • Es handelt sich um ein inerpersonelles Geschehen.
  • Der Aufmerksamkeitsfokus liegt auf dem Selbst.
    –> Entsprechend bildet sich die „Ambivalenz“ im Fokus 2 ab.

Konflikt:

  • Es werden zeitgleich zwei im Kreis gegenüberliegende (= gegensätzliche) Introjekte bzw. Forderungen wahrgenommen, es liegt also ein Introjekt-Widerspruch vor.
  • Es handelt sich im ein intrapsychisches Geschehen
  • Der Aufmerksamkeitsfokus liegt auf dem Introjekt und damit auf der Beziehung zu sich selbst
    –> Entsprechend bildet sich der „Konflikt“ im Fokus 3 ab.

Beispiele für interaktionelle Strukturmerkmale sind die Begriffe „Komplementarität“, „Opposition“ und „Kongruenz“:

Definition der Komplementarität nach Fiedler:

„Das Komplementaritätsprinzip besagt: Fokussiert ein Sprecher sein Gegenüber (Fokus: „Andere“), so lenkt er damit die Aufmerksamkeit des Interaktionspartners auf dessen eigene Person. Jener reagiert dann komplementär, wenn er dieser Erwartung entspricht (nämlich mit einer Fokussierung auf das „Selbst“). Genau „komplementär“ wäre die Reakion, wenn sie dem gleichen Punkt im interpersonellen Raum entspräche – nunmehr lediglich mit anderem Fokus als der Interaktionspartner.“ (Fiedler, 1994, S. 110)

Definition der Kongruenz nach Fiedler:

Diese „drückt sich…in einer (nur scheinbaren) Entsprechung der Verhaltensweisen zweier Personen durch ein Interagieren im gleichen Fokusbereich aus, stellt in der Realität jedoch zumeist ein „Aneinander-Vorbei-Reden“ dar: Beide Sprecher sprechen gleichzeitig entweder über sich selbst (bzw. haben die interaktionelle Aufmerksamkeit auf sich selbst gerichtet) und sind mit ihrer Aufmerksamkeit gleichzeitig beim anderen und versuchen ihn gleichartig zu beeinflussen; denn die Kongruenz verlangt im SASB-Modell neben der Fokusentsprechung das Verweilen im gleichen Cluster. (1994, S. 110)

Definition der Interpersonellen Opposition nach Fiedler:

„Die interpersonelle Opposition ist…definiert als diagonal entgegengesetztes Punktpaar innerhalb eines Fokusbereiches und zwar als Wechsel in einer Interaktionssequenz durch den zweiten Sprecher um 180° in den im gleichen Fokus (Selbst oder Andere) gegenüber liegenden oppositionellen Cluster.“ (1994, S. 110)

Von Benjamin (1995) selber wurde inzwischen versucht, die für die Persönlichkeitsstörungen des DSM-III (-R) typischen Interaktionsmuster in das SASB-Modell zu übersetzen. Eine zusammenfassende Darstellung findet sich bei Fiedler (1994, S. 112-114)
